Bitcoin Chama is a rural-based Bitcoin community dedicated to building a self-reliant Bitcoin ecosystem in rural Kenya by empowering youths through different projects. Bitcoin Chama consists of chamas (clans).
The projects we have come up with are not owned individually, but rather by chamas. When we earn from these chamas, we save all in Bitcoin in Machankura clans.
Also, whenever we need hard labour or services, members in Bitcoin Chama can buy, sell, or provide services among themselves or with us and pay in Bitcoin.
Bitcoin Chama started its journey of creating a Bitcoin circular economy a year ago. Here's what we have achieved together:
Built 25+ beehives for honey production and sales
35+ chickens and growing in our community coop
Leased 2 pieces of land for weekly vegetable harvests
200+ people onboarded, 60 directly benefiting, 7 shops accepting Bitcoin
Small gym operating with Bitcoin payments
Free clean water access, bills paid in sats
Teach community members about Bitcoin, digital wallets, and financial freedom.
Pool resources in Sats to protect against inflation.
Combine traditional Chama values with modern financial technology
Create financial independence through Bitcoin literacy and adoption
